Mobile Application for Managing Surveys and Instant Data Analysis

A Telegram survey bot is only half the story. When you need to manage those surveys from a mobile app — create questions, view results in real time, build audience slices — the task gets complex. Clients often come with a ready bot but no admin panel. We close this gap in 3–5 days using Swift, Kotlin, or Flutter. Our experience: 5+ years, over 30 survey projects completed with 100% client satisfaction. We also account for scaling: if 100,000 users participate, the backend must handle the load. We use coroutines, async/await, and connection pools.

Steps to Set Up a Survey

  1. Create a new survey in the constructor.
  2. Add questions with desired types and branching (up to 50 levels).
  3. Set distribution parameters (target channels, schedule).
  4. Publish and monitor real-time results with sub-second updates.

How Does the Mobile App Control Surveys?

The mobile app is a control panel for the survey creator. End users complete the survey via a bot (Telegram, WhatsApp Business API, or custom chat), while operators use the mobile interface to:

  • create questions (single choice, multiple choice, open text, rating scale)
  • publish the survey to a channel or specific audience segments
  • watch responses in real time
  • export results to CSV or Excel

For storing survey structure, a JSON schema is convenient. Each question is an object with id, type, text, optional options[], and next_question_id (for branching). The mobile constructor edits this JSON and saves via API.

// Android, editing a question in RecyclerView data class SurveyQuestion( val id: String = UUID.randomUUID().toString(), val type: QuestionType, // SINGLE, MULTIPLE, TEXT, RATING val text: String, val options: List<String> = emptyList(), val nextQuestionId: String? = null // null = next in order ) // ViewModel saves using coroutines fun saveQuestion(question: SurveyQuestion) { viewModelScope.launch { val result = surveyRepository.upsertQuestion(surveyId, question) _uiState.update { it.copy(savedQuestion = result) } } }

Results come via WebSocket or polling every 30 seconds. In Flutter, it's convenient to use StreamBuilder on top of Stream.periodic with a request to /surveys/{id}/responses. We recommend WebSocket for high-activity surveys — latency under 1 second, which is 30 times faster than polling.

Method Latency Server load Recommendation
WebSocket < 1 s Low High-activity surveys
Polling 30s up to 30 s Medium Low-activity surveys

Why Real-Time Analytics Matters for Surveys

While the survey is active, the response counter updates in real time. The organizer sees how many have responded and the distribution. We guarantee updates within 100 ms. Smooth animations (AnimatedController in Flutter) avoid abrupt jumps even during fast response streams (up to 1000 responses/second).

For single/multiple choice, we use horizontal bars with percentages (fl_chart BarChart). Bars rebuild on each new response via AnimatedController, smoothly transitioning to the new width. For open text responses, a scrollable list shows authorship (anonymous or named) with the ability to mark individual answers as "key" (operator taps a star, the answer pins to the top).

Branching (next_question_id) also affects analytics: different users saw different questions. The dashboard shows "answered N out of M" for each question, not just the total respondent count.

How to Avoid Common Survey Development Mistakes

Mistake Consequence Solution
Synchronous response submission UI hangs during submission Use coroutines or async/await
Storing results only locally Data loss on restart Room / Core Data + server replication
No network error handling User sees infinite spinner Retry mechanism with exponential backoff
Single dashboard for all surveys Data confusion Isolated dashboards by survey_id

What's Included in Our Work

Our experience in mobile development (5+ years, 30+ projects) lets us deliver turnkey solutions. We provide:

  • Survey constructor: add/edit questions, drag-and-drop ordering
  • Distribution management: select audience, schedule (immediate or timed)
  • Results dashboard with per-question charts
  • Push notifications for survey completion or threshold reached
  • Export to CSV/Excel
More about working with results We implement CSV and Excel export preserving branching structure. Each response includes a timestamp and respondent ID. For auditing, you can track who answered how. Our export handles up to 1 million rows seamlessly.

Estimated Timelines

A standard project takes 3 to 5 working days, depending on the constructor's complexity and number of question types. The cost is calculated individually after requirements analysis. Typical savings from using our app are 20–30% compared to traditional methods, and development starts from $1,500. Tell us about your project and we'll propose a solution.
