App Store Connect API Key

Apple dropped support for password-based login (App-Specific Password) for altool. An API Key is now mandatory. Create it in App Store Connect → Users and Access → Integrations. A role of at least App Manager is required. The key (AuthKey_XXXXXX.p8) is stored in CI secrets; its path is passed via api_key_path or environment variables APP_STORE_CONNECT_API_KEY_KEY_ID, APP_STORE_CONNECT_API_KEY_ISSUER_ID, APP_STORE_CONNECT_API_KEY_KEY. Tester groups in TestFlight can be added automatically: groups: ["Internal Testers", "QA Team"] in upload_to_testflight. External testers require passing beta review — that's an Apple limitation and cannot be automated.

How to Increment Build Number Correctly?

TestFlight rejects a build with the same CFBundleVersion as an already uploaded one. The standard approach is to use the CI build number: CI_BUILD_NUMBER in GitHub Actions, $CI_PIPELINE_IID in GitLab, $BITRISE_BUILD_NUMBER in Bitrise. Or git rev-list --count HEAD as a monotonically increasing number. Our build number increment method guarantees 100% uniqueness.
