Product Photography for 1C-Bitrix Catalog
Marketplaces have set the standard: white background, multiple angles, a size scale for questionable dimensions. A buyer accustomed to Wildberries and Ozon perceives poor photos as a sign of an unreliable store—even if the product is excellent. We know this firsthand: our engineers developed a shooting protocol that minimizes returns and increases conversion by 30% on average. With over 5 years of experience and 200+ projects, we confirm that quality photos pay off in the first weeks. A clear protocol eliminates reshoots and rejects.
Product photography for a Bitrix catalog is a production process with technical requirements, not a photographer's creative work. We provide a full cycle: from consultation on product preparation to upload into Bitrix with proper naming and sizes. We guarantee compliance with technical requirements and a uniform style for all cards. We use professional equipment and follow a shooting protocol for each SKU. Our approach reduces time for uploading and image processing.

What photo requirements does Bitrix have?
Requirements are defined by the catalog architecture: how Bitrix stores and displays images, what sizes resize_cache creates, and the card standard.
Minimum set of angles:
- Main photo (front, or the most advantageous angle)
- Photo at 45° (volume, shape)
- Photo from the back or side (design features)
- Detail/texture photo (material, texture, fittings)
- Photo with scale (next to an object of known size or a size scale)
For complex products—lifestyle photos in a usage context (product in an interior, on a person, in action).
Resolution: At least 2000×2000 pixels for the main photo. Bitrix creates reduced versions automatically; the source should have a margin.
Why is a white background the standard for online stores?
The standard for most categories is studio shooting on a white background. A white background simplifies clipping, creates uniformity in the listing, and is perceived as a professional standard.
Equipment for studio shooting
| Element | Minimum | Professional |
|---|---|---|
| Background | White paper roll or plastic sheet | Special lightbox panel with even illumination |
| Light | 2 softboxes 60×90 + reflector | 3–4 sources + ring light for details |
| Camera | DSLR/mirrorless, from 20 MP | Medium format or DSLR with tilt-shift lens |
| Lens | Prime 50–85 mm | Macro 90–100 mm for details |
| Tripod | Mandatory for batch shooting | + rotating table for serial shooting |
More about settings for batch shooting
ISO 100–200, shutter speed 1/125, aperture f/8–f/11 (depth of field). Constant settings for the entire batch—uniform results without exposure differences between cards. For small batches without a budget for studio rental, tabletop shooting in a lightbox is suitable. A lightbox is a portable mini-studio made of translucent material with built-in LED strips. Suitable for products up to 50×50 cm. A ready-made solution is available (cost depends on scope). DIY solution: a sheet of white Whatman paper forms a seamless background, two light sources with diffusers. Critical: same color temperature of all sources (5500K or 3200K), absence of colored objects in reflections, and even horizontals/verticals.
Shooting features by category
Clothing: shooting on a mannequin (phantom mannequin—creates the feel of a body without visible mannequin), on a live model, or flat lay. Flat lay is the cheapest method, least effective for conversion. Phantom mannequin requires shooting two angles with different mannequin positions and subsequent compositing in Photoshop.
Jewelry: macro shooting on a black or gray background is often better than white—metallic and stone reflections look more advantageous. Using a reflective surface (plexiglass, mirror) creates a beautiful reflection. Depth of field—minimal to highlight the piece.
Electronics: shooting at a 45° angle to the horizon; the screen is lit separately or an interface image is composited in post-processing. Reflections on the screen—removed with flags or a polarizing filter.
Large products (furniture, appliances): in-situ shooting in an interior is more effective for conversion than studio shooting. The interior should be neutral, "magazine-like".
What is the process from shooting to upload in Bitrix?
1. Product preparation for shooting (cleaning, assembly, arrangement)
2. Shooting per angle protocol (by SKU)
3. Initial culling on camera (removing rejects)
4. Export from RAW (Lightroom/Capture One → JPEG 16-bit TIFF)
5. Basic processing (exposure, color, cropping)
6. Retouching (clipping, defect removal)
7. Export to final JPEG (sRGB, 82% quality, 2000px)
8. File naming by SKU
9. Upload to Bitrix (via API or admin interface) Timeline and cost
| Volume | Format | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Shooting 50 products (3 angles) in studio | White background | 1 working day |
| Shooting 200 products (2–3 angles) | Batch shooting | 3–4 days |
| Shooting + processing + upload to Bitrix (100 SKU) | Full cycle | 5–7 days |
Cost is calculated individually based on volume and complexity. Contact us for an accurate estimate of your project.
