1C-Bitrix License Configuration
A 1C-Bitrix license is not just a file or key. It's a mechanism that determines which modules are available, which operations are allowed, and how current the updates will be. An improperly configured license results in unavailable features or system warnings about an outdated version.
Where and How License Is Activated
The license key is entered in the admin panel: Settings → License. After key entry, the system contacts 1C-Bitrix servers for validation. For this, the server must have internet access via HTTPS to www.1c-bitrix.ru.
The key is tied to a domain. Changing the domain without notifying 1C-Bitrix results in a "Domain mismatch with license" warning. Resolved in your personal account at www.1c-bitrix.ru—change the bound domain.
Reissuing When Moving to a New Server
When moving a website to another server, you don't need to reactivate the license if the domain stays the same. But if the IP address changed or the provider blocks outgoing requests to Bitrix servers—activation won't pass. Check via test in admin panel "Settings → System Test" → "Network" section.
Multi-license and Multi-site
In a multi-site configuration, one license covers multiple websites on one core. Important: websites must be on the same physical server or within one cluster. A separate server for each website in a multi-site structure requires separate licenses.
What to Do When It Expires
License expiration doesn't delete the website or stop it from working. Updates stop coming in. An admin panel banner with a warning appears. No critical errors occur—the website continues to work on the current version.
License setup and activation: several hours. Including solving domain binding issues or access to activation servers—1 day.
