Choosing and Installing 1C-Bitrix Standard Edition
"Standard" is the edition for those who need a full-featured corporate website with advanced CMS capabilities, but without an online store. Search module, multi-site functionality, trigger email campaigns—this is "Standard". If you need a shopping cart and order handling—that's "Small Business" or higher.
Differences from "Start"
The "Standard" edition adds compared to "Start":
- Search module with morphological analysis of Russian language. Full-text site search with word forms—"купить" (buy), "покупка" (purchase), "купленный" (bought) are found by the query "купить"
- Multi-site functionality: multiple websites on one core with shared database. Managed from a single admin panel
- Web messenger for communication with website visitors
- Trigger email campaigns—email marketing with send conditions (visited page, hasn't visited in X days)
- Extended photo gallery and media library
- Surveys module
The sale module (online store) in "Standard" is still not included.
When to Choose "Standard"
Well suited for: corporate website for medium business with multiple language versions (each version = separate site within multi-site functionality), publishing portal or media, educational website without course sales, HR portal with job listings.
If you plan to add a catalog with orders in a year—go straight for "Small Business". The transition is easy, but an unnecessary upgrade is unnecessary expense.
Technical Nuances of Installation
Installation is identical to other editions. "Standard" specifics: after activation, be sure to configure the search index (/bitrix/admin/search_reindex.php). Search doesn't work until the first complete reindex. On a large site—run via cron, not via interface (browser timeout).
Installing "Standard" edition on a prepared server: several hours. Including search configuration, multi-site setup, and initial configuration—1-2 days.
