Setting Up CoPilot in Bitrix24

CoPilot is Bitrix24's built-in AI assistant powered by GPT. Unlike custom OpenAI integration, CoPilot doesn't require your own server and middleware — everything works "out of the box" within the portal. But by default, the feature is enabled without role and prompt configuration, and employees either don't understand why they need it or use it like ChatGPT for personal questions. We configure it so CoPilot works on business tasks.

Where CoPilot Works

CoPilot is available in several sections of Bitrix24:

  • Chat. Employee calls CoPilot directly in the conversation — helps formulate a message, translate text, shorten or expand what's written.
  • Tasks. When creating a task, CoPilot generates a description from a brief input and compiles a checklist.
  • CRM. In a deal or lead card — text generation for a letter, preparing client responses, summarizing correspondence.
  • Feed. Writing posts and announcements for the corporate feed.
  • Documents. Text generation and editing in Bitrix24 Documents.

Availability depends on the plan: CoPilot is included in "Standard" and "Professional" plans. On basic and free plans, the feature is limited or absent.

Activation and Access Rights

CoPilot is enabled in Settings → Tools → CoPilot. The portal administrator manages:

  • Enable/disable by sections: you can keep CoPilot in CRM and tasks but disable it in chats.
  • Access by roles. Through rights settings, you determine which departments or employees see CoPilot. If AI is needed only for the sales department — no point enabling it for the warehouse.

Roles and Prompts

The main configuration that determines CoPilot's usefulness. A role is a preset system prompt that defines model behavior. Bitrix24 offers standard roles: "Marketer", "Lawyer", "HR Manager", "Copywriter". But standard roles are generic and work mediocrely for a specific business.

Create custom roles for your company's tasks:

  • "Sales Manager {company}". Prompt contains product descriptions, company tone of voice, typical client objections. CoPilot in a deal card generates letters considering business specifics, not abstract templates.
  • "First-line Support". Prompt includes links to knowledge base, instructions for typical issues. CoPilot helps the operator prepare a response to a client.
  • "Content Manager". Prompt describes brand style, forbidden phrases, target audience. CoPilot in the feed generates posts that don't need rewriting from scratch.

Roles are created in CoPilot → Manage Roles. Each role is assigned an application area (CRM, tasks, chat) and a group of employees who see it.

Limitations

CoPilot is not a replacement for full OpenAI integration:

  • No access to external APIs. CoPilot works only with data inside Bitrix24 and cannot call third-party services.
  • No automation. CoPilot is not triggered by a robot or business process — only manually at the employee's initiative.
  • Request limits. The number of CoPilot requests is limited by the plan. On "Standard" — a limit on requests per month, on "Professional" — higher but still finite.
  • Fixed model. You cannot select a specific GPT model or connect an alternative (Claude, Mistral). Bitrix24 uses the model it determines.

If you need automatic processing (lead qualification without manager involvement, call transcription, AI in open channels) — this is a task for custom integration, not CoPilot.

What We Configure

  • Activate CoPilot on the portal, configure sections (CRM, tasks, chat, feed)
  • Restrict access by departments and roles
  • Create custom roles with prompts for your business
  • Train employees: how to call CoPilot, which role to choose, how to formulate requests
  • Recommendations for further development: which scenarios CoPilot covers, which require custom integration
