Screen Sharing Setup in Bitrix24
A manager tries to explain to a client over the phone where to click a button in the interface. The client doesn't understand, the manager gets frustrated, the call drags on for half an hour. Screen sharing solves this in a minute—show, point with cursor, done. B24 has screen sharing built into video calls and doesn't require third-party software.
How Screen Sharing Works
During a B24 video call, any participant can press "Share Screen" button. The browser offers a choice of what to show:
- Entire screen — peers see everything, including desktop and notifications. Be careful with personal messages.
- Application window — only the selected window is shown. Everything else is hidden.
- Browser tab — specific tab is shown. The safest option.
Screen sharing works through WebRTC—a standard supported by modern browsers. Plugin installation is not required.
Browser Requirements
Not all browsers handle screen sharing equally well:
| Browser | Support | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome / Chromium | Full | Recommended |
| Firefox | Full | Works stably |
| Edge (Chromium) | Full | Similar to Chrome |
| Safari | Partial | May have macOS limitations |
| IE / Old Edge | No | Not supported |
On mobile devices, screen sharing is available in B24 app for Android (Android 5+). iOS has limitations from Apple.
Presentation Mode
When sharing screen, the speaker's video shrinks to a small window, and the main area shows the screen. Useful for presentations: colleagues see slides full-screen.
For quality presentation:
- Close extra tabs and applications—they distract and load the connection
- Use "Browser tab" mode if the presentation is open in browser
- Disable notifications during sharing (enable "Do Not Disturb" in OS)
- Check internet speed: screen sharing requires minimum 1 Mbit/s upload
Remote Assistance
Screen sharing works both ways. An employee shows their screen—a colleague sees the problem and advises. This is not full remote desktop (controlling peer's mouse and keyboard through B24 is impossible), but sufficient for most tasks: "See the button in the top right? Click it".
For full remote management, third-party tools (AnyDesk, TeamViewer) are used, but for quick colleague help, B24 screen sharing is the fastest way.
